The Sanskrit word “Maa” stands for mother and Shakti from Sanskrit shak – “to be able”, meaning sacred force or empowerment, is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe in Hinduism. Shakti is the concept, or personification, of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as ‘The Great Divine Mother’ in Hinduism.

First time in Auckland NewZealand in 2012 Maa Bhagwati Jagran was performed by Sh Narender Chanchal ji (From India) which was organised by Maa Shakti Charitable Trust.

MAA DURGA TEMPLE was established in year 2012 through Divine blessings from MATA VAISHNO DEVI. Maa Durga Temple is functioning under Maa Shakti Charitable Trust which is a non profitable organization.

To Promote Our Religion
Maa Durga Temple was started to preach about our religion Hinduism. Keeping in mind we are far from our home land. It was opened to keep our young ones glued to our Sanskaar and Sanskriti. This temple has highly qualified and dedicated priest for performing different Poojas and various religious celebrations in the temple. Our priest has many years of religious education and appropriate professional experience and proficiency in Fijian, Hindi, English and several other Indian languages. He is always ready and willing to perform sponsored Puja and other religious celebrations in the temple or at home as desired by the devotees.
The Maa Durga Temple is located at a site which is purified with Vedic Mantras recited by Acharyas. The Maa Durga Temple was inaugurated with Chal Pratishtha. This epitome of Bhakti and Prathana will lead further to attract, promote and preach generations of Hindus in New Zealand.
